It detects fabricated or inaccurate citations that can cause paper rejection, academic misconduct accusations, or wasted research effort.
CiteTrue Citation Checker is a web‑based service that takes a block of references and validates each entry against authoritative academic databases. The user pastes raw citation text, the system parses it into individual records, splits each record into fields (title, authors, year, DOI, venue, etc.) and queues queries to multiple indexed sources. Results from each source are compared to the parsed fields; mismatches generate a confidence score and a status of found, not found, or suspect. The tool aggregates scores across databases, resolves DOIs, and produces a report listing the confidence for each reference and any detected inconsistencies. It runs without requiring installation and returns results in a simple panel.
