The Problem

Mail Tailor is a web service that lets a user claim a custom email address under a chosen domain and receive messages through a browser interface. The user signs up, selects an available handle, and the system registers the address on the backend mail server. Incoming SMTP traffic is routed to the service, which stores messages in a database and presents them via a simple web UI. Outgoing mail is sent through the service’s SMTP relay, which adds the custom address as the sender. The platform handles DNS record creation for the domain, SPF/DKIM signing, and spam filtering. Users can configure forwarding rules, auto‑reply templates, and basic folder organization without installing client software. All operations are performed through HTTP endpoints, making the service usable from any device with a web browser.
