It eliminates the need to rely on third‑party analytics services that collect and store visitor data, providing a privacy‑compliant way to track traffic and conversions while keeping data under the site owner's control.
Umami is an open-source web analytics system that records page views, events, and conversion data without sending any visitor information to external services. It stores data in a relational database and provides a lightweight JavaScript snippet that sends hit data to a backend API over HTTPS. The backend aggregates metrics, correlates them with campaign parameters, and exposes them through a responsive web dashboard where users can filter by date, page, referrer, or custom event. Because the code runs on the server, operators can deploy it on any Linux, Windows, or macOS host, or use the hosted Umami Cloud service. The platform supports real-time reporting, custom event tracking, and revenue attribution, all while respecting GDPR and CCPA by default. No cookies are required, and all data remains under the owner’s control.
